The "1919" bracelet consists of a handcrafted chain set with oval, smoothly cut lapis lazuli stones. The material, size, and weight of the bracelet symbolize strength and independence—hence the name "1919," the year of Afghan independence.
The second SEVAR Studios collection consists of ten pieces of jewelry whose names and designs pay special tribute to Afghanistan's varied history and its influential figures. Each piece bears the name of a significant figure in Afghanistan, an important date, or a term meaningful to Hila and Wana Limar.
Please note that each pair is handmade from natural materials. No two pieces are alike, but rather beautifully unique. Variations from the photos may therefore occur .

Hila and Wana Limar write about the background of the name: "Between 1839 and 1919, the Anglo-Afghan Wars took place between the British Empire and Afghanistan. Great Britain's goal was to secure its supremacy in the region and curb the expansionist ambitions of the Russian Empire. On August 8, 1919, the Third Anglo-Afghan War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Rawalpindi. The British colonial power recognized Afghanistan as a separate and independent state, and the country regained its freedom after 60 years."

The designs were created by Hila Limar (architect and chairwoman of the non-profit organization Visions for Children e.V.) and Wana Limar (creative producer, presenter, ambassador, and member of the PR team at Visions for Children e.V.). The jewelry pieces were carefully handcrafted in a goldsmith's workshop in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
With this collaboration, the Afghan-born sisters Hila and Wana Limar are also introducing their new jewelry label SEVAR Studios. SEVAR Studios combines the sisters' shared affinity for artistic design with an educational, sustainable approach—thus combining their long-standing commitment to education, particularly through the non-profit organization Visions for Children e.V., with their love of art and aesthetics. Profits generated by SEVAR Studios flow into a goldsmith training program in Kabul.
